2015 - It is a wrap

Post Friday's games, it was imperative for Dan to hydrate and get some therapy.
Woodley was surprised by Dan's techniques but Dan has a routine he believes in.

However, we started to questions Dan's methods this morning when he started getting major jitters, but then we deduced that it was simply C.S.A...a rare conditions known as Chelsey separatation anxiety...commonly found in middle aged men who have never been apart from their wife for the night before.  We prescribed some phone therapy which seemed to quell most of the symptoms.

We had to go to the High School for the championship game, luckily the town is very well laid out for visitors and there is adequate signage for the many tourists and visitors.

As we passed the mill, everyone was waving at James.

We asked him why everyone seemed to know him and he confessed he heard they were understaffed last night and worked from 1-4am pulling green tab off the belt.  While we admired his generous spirit, we questioned how much energy he would be left with for three games in the same day.

When we arrived at the gyms, Aaron insisted on some new Cambodian stretching techniques.

Jeff laced up the ankle braces, knowing a long day was ahead.

Dan tried to combine digging in his bag with some hamstring stretching / twerking, with mixed results.

Nick fought of some catcalls from the local women who hadn't seen a man with all his teeth in many moons.

The championship game went as one might expect with some old geezers playing, the legends were down 6 at half but ran out of gas down the stretch playing their 3rd game of the day.

Luckily, the meth head ref, now proudly clean and sober for 48 hours, didn't recognize Drew and he left the gym unscathed.

Nick was confused by the foul calls, but nothing could be done.

Jeff proudly held his head up, knowing no team in their 30s had ever made the championship before.

Woodley proudly showed the 2, proud of the second place finish.

The author enjoyed time with his friends, despite making an emergency appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for Sunday.

A good looking crew.

The final event of the weekend was a mustache contest between Jeff and the woman running the scoreboard.  We will leave it to you to judge who won.

Legends make championship game...1:45pm Saturday March 14th, 2015

After six year hiatus, the Glendale legends have returned. And, oh my, returned they have.

Despite some questionable decision-making by Dan Schenfeld including a late night show ride to the casino...

...the legends once again found themselves in the championship game. The game will be played at the pirate ship, and nationally televised in streams on mobile devices on ESPN eight, the Ocho

The day began much like any other day, leisurely snoozing through alarm clocks and Jeff and Woodley enjoying a late morning cuddle.

James Macy hit the breakfast room and turned many heads with his hardened physique.

A great breakfast was had by all.  The men then took the court and battled their way into the championship game.

News that the boys made the championship game was met with dread, from not only opponents, but from the men himself themselves who were nursing various injuries and using walkers and wheelchairs to get themselves into the gymnasium.

However, special men, men born with a rare competitive spirit and the fire in their guts to do whatever it takes to become champions, rise to the challenge no matter how impossible or how much BenGay is required. We are these men.

After day one, the boys are 1-1 with an *

Game one was interesting.  We played in the elementary school gym.  Uncle Pat (Sean's uncle) was there for moral support.  We unfortunately had a referee who looked like this:

And hates people from the big city.  So we lost by two.  Blame road legs.

Game two was difficult (same ref) but better.  The Wolf hit a fading three to send it to overtime.

Then Daniel closed it out in overtime with a lefty lay in.

We are old, but there's no quit in us.

Like MJ with the Wiz...

We probably probably shouldn't be...but we are back anyway.  Stay tuned for updates.
